Former Tennessee football running back Jaylen Wright received an interesting comparison from NFL Draft analyst Dane Brugler, who works for The Athletic.

Brugler compared Wright to Cleveland Browns running back Jerome Ford in an X post on Monday.

“Tennessee RB Jaylen Wright reminds me a lot of Jerome Ford when he was coming out of Cincinnati,” Brugler said in his post. “Runs strong and balanced. Above average speed (HS 55-meter state champ). Wright will be a really nice addition to an NFL backfield.”

Ford is a unique comparison for Wright given how little known he is. Ford was a member of the Cincinnati team that made the College Football Playoff, along with quarterback Desmond Ridder and wide receiver Alec Pierce.

Currently, Ford is in his second year in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns. Ford had a great opportunity this past season to serve as the Browns’ lead back with Nick Chubb tearing his ACL in Week 2.

With his opportunities, Ford recorded 204 carries for 813 yards and four touchdowns along with 44 catches for 319 yards and five scores.

Wright enters the NFL Draft after three productive seasons aT Tennessee. In the latest seven-round NFL Mock Draft by DraftCountdown.com, Wright projects as a third-round pick to the Baltimore Ravens.

Given how well Wright played in 2023, he will likely be able to contribute to an NFL team right away if given the opportunity.
