No. 5 Tennessee is back on the road for a second straight game when they take on the Georgia Bulldogs at noon on Saturday in Athens.
The Vols are 1-1 in SEC play after tearing up No. 22 Ole Miss last Saturday night in Knoxville but fell to Mississippi State this past Wednesday night in Starkville.
Tennessee will use Saturday afternoon’s contest as an opportunity to get back on the right track and silence some doubters when it comes to play on the road. The Vols have lost their last true road games (at Mississippi State, at North Carolina) but did hold on to an impressive win over Wisconsin on the road in the second game of the season.
Winning on the road in college basketball is always a tough challenge. While the team isn’t panicking by any stretch, guard Dalton Knecht spoke about how the team wants and knows they need to come out of the gates with stronger aggression to set the tone in the first four minutes while on the road. We’ll see if Tennessee can get that done this Saturday afternoon against the ‘Dawgs.
Tennessee hit the practice court on Friday afternoon before traveling south. Prior to practice, though, Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes and guard Dalton Knecht met with the media to discuss their final thoughts on the Mississippi State game and a quick preview for Saturday’s Georgia contest.
