Tennessee basketball announced a sell out for its February 28 matchup against Auburn on Friday morning. The Auburn game marks the sixth sell out at Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center this season which marks a new venue record.

The Vols’ previous record for sell outs at Thompson-Boling Arena, which seats 21,678 and is the third largest on-campus arena nationally, was five last season.

Tennessee’s wins over Illinois and Ole Miss were sell outs earlier this season and the Vols have already announced sell outs for upcoming matchups against Alabama, Texas A&M and Kentucky.

Rick Barnes’ ninth Tennessee team is 11-4 (1-1 SEC) this season after losing a nail biter at Mississippi State on Wednesday night. The Vols’ ability to defend their home court is extremely important in their quest to win their second SEC regular season title of Barnes’ tenure.

Tennessee is unbeaten at home this season after going 16-2 at home in conference play over the last two seasons. The Vols return to Thompson-Boling Arena next week where they’ll face Florida and Alabama in highly anticipated SEC games.

But before that, Tennessee heads out on the road where they’ll face Georgia at Stegeman Coliseum in Athens. Tipoff between the Vols and Bulldogs is at noon ET. ESPN2 is broadcasting the game.
