NFL Super Bowl Odds Analysis
Twelve teams will face each other in the Wild Ccard round Jan. 13-15. Here are the matchups:
NFC:
- (7) Green Bay Packers @ (2) Dallas Cowboys
- (6) Los Angeles Rams @ (3) Detroit Lions
- (5) Philadelphia Eagles @ (4) Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Bye: San Francisco 49ers
AFC:
- (7) Pittsburgh Steelers @ (2) Buffalo Bills
- (6) Miami Dolphins @ (3) Kansas City Chiefs
- (5) Cleveland Browns @ (4) Houston Texans
- Bye: Baltimore Ravens
Since we last checked in, the 49ers have maintained their lead in the odds, closely followed by the Baltimore Ravens. At a further distance are the Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, and Philadelphia Eagles.
Perhaps the biggest fall from grace right now is the Eagles, who started the season 5-0 and ended it 1-5. Their dismal performance in the final weeks of the season landed them below the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC seeding – and the Bucs were nearly out of the playoff picture entirely for much of the season.
Another team struggling over the regular season finish line was Miami. A loss to the Bills in the final week meant they fell to the sixth seed, while the Bills won the AFC East and clinched the No. 2 spot. Now Miami has to start the playoffs on the road against last year’s Super Bowl champions.
In the NFC, the 49ers, Lions, Eagles, and Cowboys should be the teams to bet on. But this has been a wild season of plot twists and upsets.
In the AFC, there’s even more inconsistency, apart from the Ravens. The Bills have gotten hot at the right moment, but they struggled through most of the regular season. The Dolphins can look like a Super Bowl-winning team one week and get destroyed by double digits the next.
The Browns are the dark horse to watch with the resurgence of Joe Flacco, though it’s still a long shot.
If you have to pick one Super Bowl bet, we’re going with the Ravens. They finished the regular season on a winning streak (until Week 18, when they rested their key starters against the Steelers), went 13-5, and were the only team to beat the 49ers since Week 8. (Again, excepting Week 18, when the Niners rested key players.)
Plus, the odds for Baltimore will give you a slightly better payback than San Francisco.
Good luck out there, and let the games begin!
