Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss have already turned to Tennessee to add players in the transfer portal this offseason after landing defensive end Tyler Baron and safety Tamarion McDonald in the portal last month.

Now the Rebels are turning to the offensive side of the ball and looking to add Tennessee offensive tackle transfer Gerald Mincey. According to On3’s Zach Berry, Mincey plans on officially visiting Ole Miss as the Rebels look to add help along the offensive line.

Mincey, who has one-year of eligibility remaining, transferred to Tennessee from Florida ahead of the 2022 season and originally couldn’t transfer without sitting out a season. But when courts shot down the NCAA’s one-time transfer rule, it opened the door for Mincey to transfer again.

The Fort Lauderdale, Florida native has started off-and-on for Tennessee each of the last two seasons. Mincey split playing time with Jeremiah Crawford at left tackle in 2022 before moving over to right tackle in 2023. The offensive tackle started in 13 total games in his two seasons in Knoxville.

Mincey earned a 61.5 PFF grade during the 2023 season— a mark that ranked third amongst Tennessee offensive linemen.

Losing Mincey was a potential tough blow for a Tennessee offensive line that is currently extremely thin, particularly at offensive tackle. The Vols return John Campbell at left tackle and backup right tackle Dayne Davis and also have young tackles Sham Umarov and Bennett Warren.

Tennessee is looking to add offensive tackles in the transfer portal and hosted former five-star and LSU transfer Lance Heard on a visit last weekend.
