Kansas offensive line transfer Ar’maj Reed-Adams committed to Texas A&M football over Tennessee on Sunday morning. The versatile offensive lineman committed to the Aggies after taking visits to both schools in the last few days.

Reed-Adams started 12 games for Kansas last season, earning a 61.7 PFF grade before entering the transfer portal on New Years Eve. Nine of those starts came at left guard while three came at right tackle.

That versatility would have been big for Tennessee who is thin across the offensive line and is looking to replace starting left guard Ollie Lane and right tackle Gerald Mincey entering the 2024 season.

Reed-Adams has two-years of eligibility remaining so while Tennessee won’t face him and the Aggies during the 2024 season they could face them in 2025— the SEC has yet to release the Vols’ conference opponents for that year.

Tennessee is in desperate need of adding offensive linemen, particularly a offensive tackle, in the transfer portal this offseason. Depth was a major concern for the Vols along the offensive line in 2023 and while there could be an interior offensive lineman ready to step up, there are no obvious candidates at offensive tackle to fill the void Mincey left.

The Vols have also hosted highly touted LSU transfer Lance Heard on a visit in recent days but they’re battling a number of top programs for the former five-star’s services.

Tennessee does return starting left tackle John Campbell Jr. as well as starting center Cooper Mays. Starting right guard Javontez Spraggins has yet to announces whether or not he’ll return for his super senior season.
