Tennessee Basketball Announces Sell-Out For SEC Opener Against Ole Miss

Tennessee basketball opens SEC play on Saturday evening as they host unbeaten Ole Miss at Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center.

The top 25 matchup will be in front of a full house (21,678) with Tennessee announcing a sell-out for its SEC opener.

It’s the second sell out of the season as Thompson-Boling Arena with the Vols also announcing a sell-out for their top 15 showdown against Illinois last month. The Illinois game was Tennessee’s only big six home matchup during the non conference slate with the Vols knocking off the Fighting Illini 86-79.

Tennessee, the preseason pick to win the SEC, opens conference play ranked fifth nationally with a 10-3 record with its three losses coming against now-No. 1 Purdue, No. 2 Kansas and No. 8 North Carolina. The Vols boast wins over No. 9 Illinois, No. 21 Wisconsin, North Carolina State and Syracuse.

Ole Miss is in the midst of a major turnaround in head coach Chris Beard’s first season as head coach. The 22nd-ranked Rebels are unbeaten entering conference play with their best wins coming against No. 15 Memphis, North Carolina State and Central Florida.

Tip-off between Tennessee and Ole Miss is at 6 p.m. ET on Saturday night. John Schriffen and former Vol Dane Bradshaw are on the call for the SEC Network.
