NFL Super Bowl Odds: Time to Wager Before the Playoffs

The San Francisco 49ers are heavy favorites in Super Bowl odds, shortening slightly right before the last week of the regular season. Behind them, the Baltimore Ravens improved their odds as well after a massive 56-19 win over the Miami Dolphins this past week.

After that come the Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Eagles, Dolphins, and Detroit Lions. The order of those teams depends on which sportsbook you’re betting on.

Sportsbooks showed a ton of movement in the odds in Week 17, with some of the best teams in the league making big drops. The Dolphins’ odds ballooned after losing to the Ravens by 37 points.

The Eagles, too, are facing late-season troubles, losing to the lowly Arizona Cardinals at home 35-31. The Cards were 11-point underdogs in that matchup. That loss hands the home-field advantage to the 49ers.

And that makes San Francisco the team to beat.

Another surprise in the odds? The Buffalo Bills, who at one point looked like they might not make the playoffs at all, have better odds than the Eagles, Chiefs, Dolphins, and Lions. With four straight wins, Buffalo is getting hot at just the right time, though they still need this final week to clinch their spot.

If you’re looking to wager on a dark horse, keep an eye on the Cleveland Browns. They’re just behind the Lions on most sportsbooks. They’re a long, long shot to win the Super Bowl, but with the return of Joe Flacco, they’re kind of the best story in the league right now and one to watch.

It’s been a wild NFL season with dominant teams facing surprising ruts, major quarterback injuries, and so many plot twists. Now the stakes are higher than ever, and it’s time to place those Super Bowl bets.
