Tennessee football offensive lineman Gerald Mincey has entered the transfer portal, per multiple reports on Thursday afternoon.
Mincey enters the portal after two seasons at Tennessee. The Fort Lauderdale, Florida, native previously spent his true freshman and redshirt freshman seasons at Florida.
Mincey has one more season of eligibility remaining.
Mincey started seven of 13 games and made an appearance in every game for Tennessee this past season, including starting in Tennessee’s 35-0 Citrus Bowl win over Iowa in Orlando. The 6-foot-6, 337-pounder also started seven games in 2022, making nine appearances.

Mincey served as the primary starting left tackle in 2022 but moved over to the right side in 2023 to fill the void left by Darnell Wright.
Mincey’s entry into the portal comes as a bit of a surprise given the fact he announced he was returning to Tennessee in 2024.
With Mincey’s departure, Tennessee will likely look to fill the void by getting someone in the transfer portal. Elsewhere along Tennessee’s offensive line, starting left tackle John Campbell Jr. and starting center Cooper Mays are returning.
Starting right guard Javontez Spraggins is yet to announce his plans for 2024, but another year with Spraggins would be great for the Vols.
As of right now, Tennessee has to replace Ollie Lane at left guard and Mincey at right tackle.
