VFLs in NFL Week 17: Alontae Taylor, Cameron Sutton, Jalen Reeves-Maybin Lead the Way

Week 17 of the NFL season has officially concluded, and 19 VFLs saw action in Week 17.

See how each former Vol fared in this past weekend’s action below.

S Micah Abernathy – Atlanta Falcons

Recorded one tackle while playing 84 percent of special teams snaps in Atlanta’s 37-17 loss to the Bears.

DE Derek Barnett – Houston Texans

Made six tackles, two solo, one TFL, four QB hits, and 1.5 sacks while playing 69 percent of defensive snaps and four percent of special teams snaps as a starting defensive end for Houston in their 26-3 win over Titans.

DT Matthew Butler – Las Vegas Raiders

On the practice squad.

WR Marquez Callaway – New Orleans Saints

On the practice squad.

LS Morgan Cox – Tennessee Titans

Snapped for one successful field goal attempt and five punts in the Titans’ 26-3 loss to the Texans in Houston.

QB Joshua Dobbs – Minnesota Vikings

Was used as the emergency 3rd QB in the Vikings’ 33-10 loss to the Packers on Sunday Night Football.

TE/FB Princeton Fant – Dallas Cowboys

On the practice squad.

QB Hendon Hooker – Detroit Lions

Was active again but did not log a snap as third-string quarterback in the Lions’ 20-19 loss to the Cowboys on Monday Night Football on Saturday night.

WR Jalin Hyatt – New York Giants

Caught three balls on four targets for 25 yards while playing 77 percent of offensive snaps in the Giants’ 26-25 loss to the Rams.

S Theo Jackson – Minnesota Vikings

Was inactive in Minnesota’s Sunday Night Football loss to the Packers.

WR Jauan Jennings – San Francisco 49ers

Inactive – concussion.

LB Alexander Johnson – Miami Dolphins

On the practice squad.

FB Jakob Johnson – Las Vegas Raiders

Played 50 percent of special teams snaps and 20 percent of offensive snaps as the Raiders’ fullback in Vegas’ 23-20 loss to the Colts.

WR/PR Velus Jones Jr. – Chicago Bears

Recorded one carry for two yards and returned two kicks for 54 yards while playing 20 percent of offensive snaps and 34 percent of special teams snaps in the Bears’ win over the Falcons.

RB Alvin Kamara – New Orleans Saints

Logged 10 carries for 45 yards and caught both of his targets for four yards while playing 33 percent of offensive snaps in the Saints’ win over the Buccaneers. Kamara did suffer an injury early in the third quarter and did not return for the rest of the game.

RB John Kelly Jr. – Cleveland Browns

On the practice squad.

OL Cade Mays – Carolina Panthers

Played 48 percent of offensive snaps as a starting guard in the Panthers’ 26-0 loss to the Jaguars.

CB Emmanuel Moseley – Detroit Lions

OUT FOR THE SEASON

WR Joshua Palmer – Los Angeles Chargers

Did not play in the Chargers’ 16-9 loss to the Broncos.

RB Cordarrelle Patterson – Atlanta Falcons

Played 14 percent of offensive snaps and 25 percent of special teams snaps in Atlanta’s loss to the Bears but did not log a stat.

DE Kyle Phillips – New Orleans Saints

Played 14 percent of defensive snaps and four percent of special teams snaps in the Saints’ win over Tampa Bay.

LB Jalen Reeves-Maybin – Detroit Lions

Recorded one solo tackle while playing 18 percent of defensive snaps and 88 percent of special teams snaps as the Lions’ ST captain in their 20-19 loss to Dallas.

Additionally, Reeves-Maybin beautifully executed a fake punt in which he completed a 31 yard pass for the first down.

OG Trey Smith – Kansas City Chiefs

Played every snap as starting right guard while also playing 26 percent of special teams snaps in the Chiefs’ 25-17 win over the Bengals.

CB Cameron Sutton – Detroit Lions

Had a busy night in Detroit’s loss to the Cowboys, totaling 10 solo tackles and one TFL while playing 100 percent of defensive snaps as a starting cornerback for the Lions.

CB Alontae Taylor – New Orleans Saints

Recorded four tackles, three solo, a pass deflection and his first career interception while starting for the Saints in their key win over the Buccaneers. Taylor played every defensive snap for the fifth time this season.

DE Darrell Taylor – Seattle Seahawks

Recorded two tackles with one being a TFL while playing 29 percent of defensive snaps and 21 percent of special teams snaps as a starting defensive end in Seattle’s 30-23 loss to Pittsburgh.

WR Cedric Tillman – Cleveland Browns

Caught one of four targets for eight yards while playing 95 percent of offensive snaps in Cleveland’s dominant 37-20 win over the Jets on Thursday Night Football. Tillman’s snap percentage was his highest of the season.

DT Shy Tuttle – Carolina Panthers

Tuttle recorded one tackle while playing 52 percent of defensive snaps and 26 percent of special teams snaps as a starting defensive tackle in Carolina’s 26-0 loss to the Jaguars.

DT Kendal Vickers – Arizona Cardinals

On the practice squad.

OT Darnell Wright – Chicago Bears

Played every offensive snap as the starting right tackle for the Bears in their win over the Falcons. Wright also played 25 percent of special teams snaps.

DE Byron Young – Los Angeles Rams

Tallied four tackles, two solo, one sack, two TFLs and three QB hits while playing 93 percent of defensive snaps and 3 percent of special teams snaps as a starting defensive end in the Rams’ win over the Giants.
