WATCH: Alontae Taylor Gets First Career Interception

Former Tennessee and current New Orleans Saints cornerback Alontae Taylor recorded his first career interception in Sunday’s win over the Buccaneers.

The pick came early in the second quarter deep in his own territory, as the Buccaneers were about to score.

The interception was crucial in the Saints’ ability to hold their early 7-0 lead.

Taylor and the Saints went on to dominate the Buccaneers in Tampa, winning 23-13. The win kept New Orleans’ hopes to win the division alive. Entering Week 18, the Saints and Bucs are 8-8. If New Orleans wins and Tampa Bay loses, the Saints will make the playoffs.

Additionally, New Orleans can get into the playoffs as a wildcard team with a win and some help.

Taylor’s big play in the Saints’ win adds ti what has been an impressive sophomore campaign in 2023.

Taylor has started 12 of 17 games this season and has made 73 total tackles, six TFL, one sack, 12 pass deflections and the  interception. Specifically in the latter half of the season, Taylor has stepped up with No. 1 cornerback Marshon Lattimore having dealt with an injury over the past two months.

Taylor will look to continue being a big-time player for the Saints defense in the regular season finale next week against Cordarrelle Patterson’s Falcons.
