A trio of Tennessee players met with the media after practice on Tuesday afternoon in Knoxville. The Vols are preparing to take on the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl on New Year’s Day in Orlando, Florida.
Tennessee’s players on Tuesday included defensive lineman Omari Thomas, center Cooper Mays, and wide receiver Ramel Keyton.
Thomas and Mays both announced that they will be returning to Tennessee in 2024 while Keyton is preparing to play his final game in a Tennessee uniform against Iowa in the bowl game.
Mays said on Tuesday that his family and teammates made a big impact on his decision to return to Knoxville, which includes his brother and former Vol Cade Mays. The returning Tennessee center also mentioned being able to play with quarterback Nico Iamaleava and getting to help him develop as a starter as reasons for a return.
Thomas, on the other hand, spoke about defensive line coach Rodney Garner encouraging him to make the right choice for him and his family and when those conversations took place.
Keyton wrapped up the trio of press conferences on Tuesday and talked about how the competitiveness and intensity are ramping up during bowl practices in Knoxville.
