VFLs in NFL Week 15: Palmer Eclipses Century Mark, Tillman Continues to Expand Role

Week 15 of the NFL season has officially concluded, and 23 VFLs saw action in Week 15.

See how each former Vol fared in this past weekend’s action below.

S Micah Abernathy – Atlanta Falcons

Played 95 percent of special teams snaps in Atlanta’s 9-7 loss to the Panthers.

DE Derek Barnett – Houston Texans

Recorded four tackles, three solo, two TFLs, one sack (his first of the season) and two QB hits while playing 54 percent of defensive snaps and 10 percent of special teams snaps as a starting defensive end for Houston. It was his first start of the season and first career start for the Texans.

DT Matthew Butler – Las Vegas Raiders

On the practice squad.

WR Marquez Callaway – New Orleans Saints

Played 21 percent of offensive snaps (13 total) in the Saints’ blowout win over the Giants but did not catch a pass.

LS Morgan Cox – Tennessee Titans

Snapped for one successful field goal attempt and two extra-point attempts, one successful and one un-successful, along with eight punts in Tennessee’s thrilling 19-16 overtime loss to the Texans.

QB Joshua Dobbs – Minnesota Vikings

Was a healthy scratch in Minnesota’s 27-24 overtime loss to the Bengals after getting benched for Nick Mullens last week.

TE/FB Princeton Fant – Dallas Cowboys

Was reverted back to the practice squad this past week and thus did not play in the Cowboys’ 31-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills on the road.

QB Hendon Hooker – Detroit Lions

Inactive as he remains on the NFI list still rehabbing his ACL injury. However, Hooker has been getting back on the practice field.

WR Jalin Hyatt – New York Giants

Failed to catch any of his three targets in the Giants’ 24-6 loss to the Saints while playing 71 percent of offensive snaps.

S Theo Jackson – Minnesota Vikings

Played 10 percent of defensive snaps and 63 percent of special teams snaps but did not log a stat in Minnesota’s overtime loss to Cincinnati.

WR Jauan Jennings – San Francisco 49ers

Caught both of his targets for 25 yards while playing 41 percent of offensive snaps and 10 percent of special teams snaps in the 49ers’ 45-29 win over the Cardinals on the road.

LB Alexander Johnson – Miami Dolphins

On the practice squad.

FB Jakob Johnson – Las Vegas Raiders

Logged one special teams tackle on 27 percent of special teams snaps while also playing 23 percent of offensive snaps as a starting fullback in the Raiders’ 63-21 blowout win over the Chargers on Thursday Night Football.

WR/PR Velus Jones Jr. – Chicago Bears

Recorded two rushing attempts for 23 yards while playing 14 percent of offensive snaps along with 34 percent of special teams snaps in the Bears’ loss to the Browns.

RB Alvin Kamara – New Orleans Saints

Ran 16 times for 66 yards and caught five passes for 44 yards in New Orleans’ 24-6 win over the Giants. It was the first game of the season Kamara did not start, however.

OL Cade Mays – Carolina Panthers

Started for the third time this season and played every offensive snap as a starting offensive guard. Mays also played 16 percent of special teams snaps.

CB Emmanuel Moseley – Detroit Lions

OUT FOR THE SEASON

WR Joshua Palmer – Los Angeles Chargers

Caught all four of his targets for 113 yards and a touchdown, which was a 70-yard bomb, in the Chargers’ blowout loss to Las Vegas on the road on Thursday Night Football.

RB Cordarrelle Patterson – Atlanta Falcons

Ran the ball five times for -2 yards and caught one of three targets for a two-yard touchdown. Patterson also returned one kick for 21 yards while playing 27 percent of offensive snaps and 16 percent of special teams snaps.

Patterson’s touchdown was his first of the season.

DE Kyle Phillips – New Orleans Saints

Played 15 percent of defensive snaps along with 9 percent of special teams snaps in the Saints’ win over the Giants.

LB Jalen Reeves-Maybin – Detroit Lions

Recorded two tackles, one solo, while playing 16 percent of defensive snaps. Reeves-Maybin also played 76 percent of special teams snaps as the Lions’ ST captain in their blowout win over Denver.

OG Trey Smith – Kansas City Chiefs

Played every offensive snap at starting right guard for the Chiefs in their 27-17 win over the Patriots. Smith also played 20 percent of special teams snaps (six total).

CB Cameron Sutton – Detroit Lions

Recorded three tackles, two solo, and a pass deflection while playing 97 percent of defensive snaps and seven percent of special teams snaps as a starting cornerback for the Lions in their win against the Broncos.

CB Alontae Taylor – New Orleans Saints

Tallied six tackles, four solo, and a TFL while playing 100 percent of defensive snaps as a starting cornerback in the Saints’ win over New York.

DE Darrell Taylor – Seattle Seahawks

Recorded two tackles, both solo, and played 20 percent of defensive snaps along with 11 percent of special teams snaps as a reserve defensive end for Seattle in their win over the Eagles on Monday Night Football.

WR Cedric Tillman – Cleveland Browns

Continued to carve out a larger role in the Browns’ passing offense, catching four of a season-high eight targets for 52 yards in Cleveland’s narrow win over Darnell Wright’s Bears.

DT Shy Tuttle – Carolina Panthers

Started at defensive tackle for the Panthers in their 9-7 win over the Falcons but did not log a stat. Tuttle played 33 percent of defensive snaps and five percent of special teams snaps.

DT Kendal Vickers – Arizona Cardinals

On the practice squad.

OT Darnell Wright – Chicago Bears

Played every offensive snap as the starting right tackle for the Bears in their loss to the Browns. Wright also played nine percent of special teams snaps.

DE Byron Young – Los Angeles Rams

Recorded three tackles, one solo, and played 80 percent of defensive snaps along with four percent of special teams snaps as a starting defensive end for the Rams in their win over the Commanders.
