Tennessee basketball is wearing its alternate “Tennessee Classic” uniforms for this afternoon’s top 20 matchup against Illinois at Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center.
The alternates are cream colored with orange cursive “Vols” script on the front and an orange stripe running down the side of the jersey and pants.

Tennessee debut the uniforms in last season’s lopsided win over Texas and they became a popular big game uniform for the Vols the rest of the season. Tennessee wore them in home wins over Texas, Alabama and Arkansas, a SEC Tournament win over Ole Miss and all three NCAA Tournament games.
The Vols are 6-1 all time in the “Tennessee Classic” uniforms.

It’s Tennessee’s first time wearing the alternate uniforms this season and it comes in the first big home game of the season as the Vols host No. 20 Illinois.
The Fighting Illini are playing at a high-level entering the game, turning in wins over Rutgers and No. 11 FAU in their last two games.
Tennessee has played an extremely daunting schedule to date including road matchups at Wisconsin and North Carolina and neutral site games against Syracuse, Purdue and Kansas. The Vols are currently 6.5-point favorites over Illinois according to DraftKings.
Tipoff between Tennessee and Illinois is at noon ET. Rich Waltz, Jay Wright, Bill Raftery and Jon Rothstein are on the call for CBS.
