Etienne immediately becomes one of the top players available in the transfer portal and is a major loss for Billy Napier and his program. The sophomore has been one of the SEC’s top running backs in each of his first two collegiate seasons, totaling 1,472 yards and 14 touchdowns on just 249 total carries.
The younger brother of former Clemson and current Jaguars standout Travis Etienne, Trevor had the best game of his career tot date this season against Tennessee when he rushed for 172 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries.

While Etienne impressed on the field during his first two collegiate seasons, Florida has struggled. The Gators went just 11-14 in Etienne’s two seasons in Gainesville. After Florida dropped its season opener at Utah and Deion Sanders and Colorado upset TCU, Travis joked that his brother should leave the Gators’ program for Colorado.
Clemson has also been a popular named mentioned for the younger Etienne since that’s where his older brother starred at before becoming a first round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Florida has been losing players to the transfer portal at a high rate including its best pass rusher Princely Umanmielen. While there are no longer divisions in the SEC starting in the 2024 season, Tennessee does host Florida at Neyland Stadium in an early October matchup next season.
