Tennessee football commit Boo Carter won the Class 6A Mr. Football award on Tuesday afternoon, beating out Riverdale quarterback Braden Graham and Oakland athlete Daune Morris.
Carter led Bradley Central High School to one of its best ever seasons, posting a 13-1 record and TSSAA 6A semifinals appearance.
The dynamic athlete turned in a dominant senior season and frequently put up highlight plays. Carter’s season stats are just as impressive as his best highlights are. The four-star recruit totaled 1,795 all purpose yards and 27 total touchdowns during his senior season while making plays as a returner, running back and predominately receiver.
More From RTI: Five-Star Offensive Tackle Announces Imminent Commitment Date
Carter ranks as a four-star recruit and the No. 146 player in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. The Bradley Central standout also ranks as the No. 2 player in the state of Tennessee and the No. 7 athlete nationally.
While Carter put up insane stats on the offensive side of the ball, the athlete appears likely to start his collegiate career on the defensive side of the ball instead of the offensive side of the ball. Playing safety for Bradley Central, Carter totaled 102 tackles and two interceptions in the 14-game season.
The Vols made Carter on their top recruiting targets early in the 2024 recruiting cycle. Carter committed to Josh Heupel and his staff in June over a top group which included Colorado and Michigan. At Bradley Central, Carter is teammates with fellow Tennessee commit Marcus Goree Jr.
