Milton is the first Vol to be invited to the Senior Bowl, as invites will likely roll in over the next couple of weeks for the seniors.
In his third year at Tennessee and sixth year playing college football, Milton had his best year statistically as he finally started a full season. The Pahokee, Florida native completed 229 of 354 passes for 2,813 yards and 20 touchdowns with five interceptions.
While Milton wasn’t very consistent with his play throughout the season, there was noticeable improvement in his play this past season compared to years past. Additionally, Milton ended the season with the best game of his career, throwing for a career-high 383 yards and four touchdowns while adding two scores on the ground.
With his effort, Milton became the first Tennessee quarterback to account for six total touchdowns in a single game since Jonathan Crompton vs. Memphis in 2009.
More From RTI: The Consensus Pick for Tennessee Football’s Bowl Destination
The Senior Bowl has hosted many Vols over the past couple of seasons, including WRs Velus Jones Jr. and Joshua Palmer, OL Cade Mays, DE Byron Young, OL Darnell Wright and others.
Senior Bowl week was especially beneficial for Wright, Young and Palmer, as great performances helped raise their draft stock.
As for what’s next in Milton’s journey, we’ll see if he decides to play in whichever bowl game Tennessee gets assigned. After that, Milton will naturally prepare for and play in the Reese’s Senior Bowl before preparing for the 2024 NFL Draft in hopes of hearing his name called.
If Milton doesn’t play in Tennessee’s bowl game, the Vols will turn to five-star freshman quarterback Nico Iamaleava.
