VFLs in NFL Week 12: Jalin Hyatt Has Huge Day Against the Patriots

Week 12 of the NFL season has officially concluded.

Thirty-one former Vols are on rosters this NFL season, representing 20 different teams. Nineteen saw action in Week 12.

See how each VFL fared in this past weekend’s action below.

S Micah Abernathy – Atlanta Falcons

Didn’t record a stat or play a defensive snap in Atlanta’s win over New Orleans but played 83 percent of special teams snaps.

DE Derek Barnett – Houston Texans

Barnett was waived by the Eagles last week and picked up by the Houston Texans on Monday. He will likely see time with Houston by season’s end.

He did not play this week as he wasn’t on a team.

DT Matthew Butler – Las Vegas Raiders

On the practice squad.

LS Morgan Cox – Tennessee Titans

Snapped for one successful field goal attempt and two successful extra-point attempts along with seven punts in the Titans’ 17-10 win over the Panthers.

QB Joshua Dobbs – Minnesota Vikings

Dobbs had his worst performance of the season, completing 22 of 32 passes for 185 yards, a touchdown and a career-high four interceptions.

Dobbs also rushed twice for 11 yards in Minnesota’s 12-10 loss to Chicago on Monday Night Football.

TE/FB Princeton Fant – Dallas Cowboys

On the practice squad.

QB Hendon Hooker – Detroit Lions

Inactive as he remains on the NFI list still rehabbing his ACL injury. However, it was reported earlier this week that Hooker could return to the practice field this week.

WR Jalin Hyatt – New York Giants

Hyatt had a career day in the Giants’ 10-7 win over the Patriots.

Hyatt earned his third start of the season and caught five of six passes for 109 yards, playing 60 percent of offensive snaps in the process.

Hyatt caught three passes of 20+ yards and had a 92.0 PFF grade, first among WRs for the week.

Hyatt is also nominated for rookie of the week.

Here’s some highlights from Hyatt’s performance:

S Theo Jackson – Minnesota Vikings

Tallied one solo tackle and played 26 percent of defensive snaps along with 65 percent of special teams snaps in Minnesota’s primetime loss to the Bears.

WR Jauan Jennings – San Francisco 49ers

Jennings caught one of two targets for seven yards in the 49ers’ 31-13 Thanksgiving win over the Seahawks, but it was a heck of a catch as Jennings made one of the best effort plays you’ll see all year to move the chains.

LB Alexander Johnson – Miami Dolphins

On the practice squad.

FB Jakob Johnson – Las Vegas Raiders

Johnson was cut last week by Las Vegas then signed to their practice squad.

WR/PR Velus Jones Jr. – Chicago Bears

Jones Jr. saw his first action in three weeks as he returned the game’s opening kickoff for 28 yards in the Bears’ two-point MNF win over the Vikings. Jones Jr. played one offensive snap and nine (45%) of special teams snaps.

RB Alvin Kamara – New Orleans Saints

Saw 15 carries for 69 yards and caught four of five targets for 50 yards in the Saints’ 24-15 loss to the Falcons in Atlanta.

Kamara continues to be one of the main fixtures of the Saints’ offense as he played 64 percent of offensive snaps.

RB John Kelly Jr. – Cleveland Browns

Kelly was waived by the Browns a few days ago then signed back to the practice squad.

OL Cade Mays – Carolina Panthers

Played 47 percent of offensive snaps and two special teams snaps (8 percent) in the Panthers’ 17-10 loss to the Titans in Nashville. Mays played his most offensive snaps since his Week 6 start against the Dolphins.

CB Emmanuel Moseley – Detroit Lions

OUT FOR THE SEASON

WR Joshua Palmer – Los Angeles Chargers

Did not play as he remains on injured reserve due to a knee injury. He has a chance to return in Week 13.

RB Cordarrelle Patterson – Atlanta Falcons

Recorded eight carries for 43 yards in Atlanta’s 24-15 win over the Saints at home. The do-it-all VFL also returned two kickoffs for 43 yards.

Patterson played 26 percent of offensive snaps and 25 percent of special teams snaps in the win.

DE Kyle Phillips – New Orleans Saints

Was inactive against the Falcons.

LB Jalen Reeves-Maybin – Detroit Lions

Played 91 percent of special teams snaps as the Lions’ ST captain and played one defensive snap in the Lions’ 29-22 Thanksgiving loss to the Packers in Detroit.

Reeves-Maybin also carried the ball once for no gain as he was called on for a fake punt attempt that was unsuccessful.

OG Trey Smith – Kansas City Chiefs

Played every offensive snap at starting right guard for the Chiefs in their 31-17 win against the Raiders. Smith also played 19 percent of special teams snaps (five total).

CB Cameron Sutton – Detroit Lions

Recorded two tackles, one solo, and played 100 percent of defensive snaps and four percent of special teams snaps as a starting cornerback for the Lions in their seven-point loss to the Packers on Thanksgiving.

CB Alontae Taylor – New Orleans Saints

Logged six total tackles, three solo, and played 95 percent of defensive snaps in the loss to Atlanta as a starting defensive back.

DE Darrell Taylor – Seattle Seahawks

Recorded one solo tackle, a sack, a TFL, and two QB hits as a rotational defensive end for the Seahawks in their 31-13 Thanksgiving loss to division rival San Francisco.

Taylor played 35 percent of defensive snaps and 24 percent of special teams snaps.

WR Cedric Tillman – Cleveland Browns

Tillman had a career day in Cleveland’s 29-12 loss to the Broncos. The VFL wideout caught four of five passes for 55 yards and played 89 percent of offensive snaps in the loss.

DL Shy Tuttle – Carolina Panthers

Recorded three tackles, all solo, in the Panthers’ seven-point loss to Tennessee. Tuttle played 42 percent of defensive snaps and 21 percent of special teams snaps in the loss as a starting defensive tackle for Carolina.

DT Kendal Vickers – Buffalo Bills

On the practice squad.

OT Darnell Wright – Chicago Bears

Played 100 percent of offensive snaps as the starting right tackle for the Bears in their win over Minnesota. Also played 25 percent of special teams snaps.

DE Byron Young – Los Angeles Rams

Logged two tackles, both solo, one TFL, and played 75 percent of defensive snaps as a starting defensive end in the Rams’ 37-14 win over Arizona.
