Bobby Petrino is back.

The longtime coach is returning to Fayetteville as Arkansas’ offensive coordinator, ESPN’s Chris Low first reported on Tuesday evening.

Petrino previously served as Arkansas’ head coach from 2008-2011 where he led the Razorbacks to two of the program’s best seasons during the 21st century. Arkansas posted a 34-17 record in Petrino’s four seasons including a 10-3 campaign in 2010 and an 11-2 campaign in 2011.

The 62-year old coach’s tenure ended infamously when he crashed his motorcycle with Arkansas’ staffer Jessica Dorrell on board. Petrino originally claimed to be alone before admitting Dorrell was with him and that the two were having an affair.

Arkansas briefly put Petrino on administrative leave before firing him days later and ending his successful tenure in Fayetteville.

Prior to his time at Arkansas, Petrino served as head coach at Louisville and for the Atlanta Falcons for a season. Following his Arkansas tenure, Petrino spent a season at Western Kentucky,  a second five-year stint at Louisville and three years at Missouri State before returning to the SEC last season as Jimbo Fisher’s offensive coordinator at Texas A&M.

Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman enters the 2024 season on the hot seat after the Razorbacks stumbled to a 4-8 record this season. Many expected Arkansas to move on from Pittman this offseason before they announced plans to retain Pittman for another season.

Josh Heupel and Tennessee travel to Arkansas next season though the date of the game has yet to be announced.
