Tennessee fans won’t have to wait too long for the Vols’ SEC game against Oklahoma next season.
That also means that Josh Heupel won’t have to wait very long to return to his old stomping ground in Norman, Oklahoma.
According to a report from ESPN’s Chris Low on Monday night, the Sooners will host the Vols in an SEC matchup in Norman on September 21, 2024.
September’s matchup will mark Tennessee’s second trip to Memorial Stadium with the first trip being in 2014. Tennessee fell to Oklahoma by a score of 34-10 in that game.
The Vols and the Sooners only have a handful of matchups between them with Oklahoma winning three out of four. Tennessee’s first win came all the way back in 1939 during the Orange Bowl as the Vols blanked the Sooners by a score of 17-0. Oklahoma then came back and won 26-24 in the 1969 Orange Bowl followed by the previously mentioned 2014 contest. Oklahoma also beat Tennessee in a double-overtime thriller in Knoxville during the 2015 season.
