Each week, Rocky Top Insider will take a look at how all 12 opponents on Tennessee’s 2023 schedule fared.

From Virginia to Missouri, let’s take a look at how the Vols’ 2023 opponents in the 12th week of the college football season.

Week 1 Opponent: Virginia Cavaliers

Virginia picked up their second biggest win of the season on Saturday with a 30-27 win over Duke. The Cavaliers improved to 3-8 (2-5 ACC) with the big win.

Week 2 Opponent: Austin Peay Governors

Since the Tennessee loss dropped them to 0-2, Austin Peay hasn’t lost.

Week 3 Opponent: Florida Gators

Florida lost a thriller to Missouri, 33-31, on the road. The Gators had it won but gave it away in the end and now must beat 11-0 Florida State next week to become bowl eligible.

Florida is 5-6 (3-5) this season.

Week 4 Opponent: UTSA Roadrunners

UTSA dominated Alex Golseh’s USF squad 49-21 in San Antonio. Like Austin Peay, the Roadrunners haven’t lost since losing to Tennessee, as they’ve won seven straight and are tied at the top of the AAC with an 8-3 record.

Week 5 Opponent: South Carolina Gamecocks

South Carolina picked up a much-needed win over Kentucky last weekend, getting past the Cats 17-14 to improve to 5-6 on the season. However, the Gamecocks must beat a hot Clemson team next week to become bowl eligible.

In their first game without Jimbo Fisher as head coach, the Aggies dominated Abilene Christian 38-10 to improve to 7-4 (4-3 SEC). Texas A&M will close out the season next week against LSU.
