Tennessee vs. Georgia Preview & Predictions
Tenne-SEC Struggles
Tennessee is on an abysmal run. Having just lost to Missouri and QB Brady Cook would not have been so bad if it weren’t for the 36-7 score. The Volunteers have also lost three of the last four games. Piling onto that fact is the 3-3 SEC record for Tennessee. The Volunteers are 7-3 overall but those three losses are all to SEC teams. This conference is as tough as it gets in college football and with the addition of Texas and Oklahoma soon, the SEC is not getting any easier.
In Tennessee’s loss to Missouri last week, Joe Milton kept up with Cook and threw for 267 yards with 22 completions on 34 attempts. The biggest problem that the Vols faced was the lack of a run game. Milton had the most yards with 36 on the ground and running back Jaylen Wright had 22 yards on seven attempts. Tennessee has a lot to fix across the board if it wants to displace the Bulldogs. The Volunteers had nine penalties that totaled 95 yards. A running game has to be established as Milton can’t do it all himself. Lastly, the passing game can’t fall off a cliff. Georgia thrives on defensive plays, Milton has to have a great day to come off with an upset.
Bulldogs or Bulldozers?
Georgia is in the midst of the toughest part of its schedule. While not too troubling, these next two weeks are not nearly as challenging as the beginning of the gauntlet. The Bulldogs passed all tests so far and appears as though they’re back to the two-time reigning national champions as we know them. TE Brock Bowers returns to the field, giving the Bulldogs even more fire power. This team certainly backed up the “..next man up..” mentality that coach Kirby Smart claimed it would have. With so many stars on both sides of the football, this roster can cause damage at any time.
Georgia’s QB Carson Beck has filled the shoes left behind by Stetson Bennett and with that, has led Georgia to a 10-0 record with eyes on being the CFB National Champions this season yet again. What’s broken doesn’t need fixing when it comes to this team. Tennessee being the home team does play into this game at least a little bit. The Volunteers are 5-0 when playing at home and are very good at protecting home turf. Georgia really has to keep the penalties to a minimum, and Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel will be ready to pounce if the opportunities come his way. With Beck having thrown for 306 yards and two touchdowns against a higher ranked Ole Miss team should tell you all you need to know.

Volunteers vs. Bulldogs Prediction
FanDuel currently has this game at 10.5 points in favor of Georgia. The Bulldogs being favored to win is not the surprise here, rather the spread itself. Tennessee has handled business in every test at home this season. Unfortunately this being an SEC matchup spells disaster for the Volunteers. Georgia wins by more than 10.5 points and taking the Over on 58.5 points feels safe, even on the road.
