SEC Football Odds and Preview for Week 11
The College Football Playoff Committee has swung the hammer and made some surprising rankings. With all of this adding to the playoff picture, it doesn’t take a highly qualified analyst to state that this week is a must win caliber of a week for some of these teams.
Listed below is the full schedule for the SEC matchups for this Saturday, week 11 of the season.

Georgia having been lept by Ohio State has to be a bitter taste for coach Kirby Smart. The Bulldogs have not had a strong schedule this year and that isn’t hard to decipher. This stretch for Georgia is arguably the hardest of the season and without star tight end Brock Bowers, the Bulldogs have to be that “next man up” group they claim to be. Everyone is dealing with injuries at this point in the season, so this team has to push through. If Georgia does lose a game, many people believe that getting into the CFP would be almost unachievable.
Ole Miss has been on a tear these last few weeks. Ever since losing to Alabama late in September, the Rebels, led by QB Jaxson Dart, have fought every step of the way climbing the ranks. Georgia is undeniably the biggest test of the year and the Rebels find themselves in a position known all too well. The adversity this team faced this season has given it experience facing such a tough opponent. Ole Miss will have to be the more disciplined team, play clean on defense, and limit the Bulldogs success on third down.
Any outcome other than winning out would put serious doubts in any case Georgia could make to getting back to the CFP. Ole Miss looks to be the team to overthrow the back-to-back champs this weekend and it isn’t a stretch of the imagination to believe this. Beating Georgia at home is a Herculean task and one that Ole Miss will not be able to conquer. The Bulldogs will win but only by a touchdown, meaning that this team doesn’t cover the 8.5 point spread.
No. 13 Tennessee vs. No. 14 Missouri, 3:30 p.m. ET (CBS)
Quarterback Joe Milton and the Tennessee Volunteers had an impressive day against UConn by putting up 650 yards of total offense. A statement type of performance — albeit against a 1-8 team — still is impressive in terms of the numbers themselves. Missouri quarterback Brady Cook has been an under-the-radar player, and when looking at his stats, it is easy to be won over. Tennessee’s passing defense will have to be on alert all game. Cook has thrown for over 200 yards in every game except one this season. Limiting Missouri’s success through the air, giving up no explosive plays, and getting off the field on third down will stun this loaded Missouri roster and give the Volunteers the win.
With Missouri being known as the team that throws it down the field all game, there is a blatantly obvious part that needs to be bolstered and that is the run game. Establishing a run game will give the Tigers the option to throw it down field later. With a run game, Tennessee can’t line up with three or four defensive linemen. Keeping the Volunteers on the ropes and guessing will give Missouri a chance to keep this game in its favor. RB Cody Schrader had an unbelievable game against Georgia and it wouldn’t surprise anyone if he went on another rampage against Tennessee. Schrader has at least one touchdown in the last six games, and has rushed for over 100 yards in three of the last five games.
This game has a lot of story to it, and there is no doubt it will be an exciting one. Tennessee’s defense has to step up in a big way. Disguising Cover Three or Cover Four with an occasional blitz as well as winning the trench battle will benefit Tennessee greatly. Missouri being the home team does give an advantage to the Tigers, but given that this team kept up with the national champions last week on the road, Missouri should keep this game close. Tennessee wins this one and covers the spread in a classic.
No. 19 LSU vs. Florida, 7:30 p.m. ET (SEC Network)
With LSU coming off a hard loss against Alabama, the Tigers look to another SEC opponent in Florida. The Tigers had a difficult time possessing the ball despite averaging eight yards per play. As talented as quarterback Jayden Daniels is, LSU has to find a running back to keep this team going. With Daniels having suffered a crazy hit from Alabama linebacker Dallas Turner that put him in concussion protocol, the Tigers should have Daniels focus on throwing from the pocket if he is medically cleared to play. The Tigers rank No. 1 in the nation in total offense, and this team has shown how explosive it can be. With LSU putting up so many points, Florida will have a tough time keeping pace. If LSU can establish a run game outside of Daniels, this team will see more success.
Florida has a tall task this weekend traveling down to Baton Rouge. As stated earlier, LSU has the No. 1 offense in the country but there is weakness in this talented roster. Florida sacked Arkansas quarterback KJ Jefferson five times and came back after being down 14-0 in the first quarter. This Gators’ defense could give Daniels fits and keep him uncomfortable long enough to create an opportunity for a turnover. The one big problem is the explosive plays given up. LSU thrives with the long passes and if Florida has trouble limiting LSU through the air, this game could get away from the Gators early.
While it is easier said than done, Florida does have the capability to upset the Tigers due to Daniels injury. Unfortunately, the LSU receivers are a talented group and that may prove to be just a bit too much. LSU covers the 13.5-point spread at home, and the No. 1 offense hits the over on 62.5 points.
