It will be interesting to watch how Levis performs in his first road start. After last week’s massive performance, the young rookie has a quick turnaround and a tough matchup against a strong Pittsburgh defense. The Titans have lost all three road games this season. Not only that, but they have scored 15, 3, and 16 points in those games. Granted, those were without Levis at the helm, but the Tennessee offense as a whole has to play a lot better on the road if they want to walk out of Pittsburgh with a win.
Pittsburgh Steelers: Can The Offense Get Going?
It hasn’t always been pretty, but the Steelers enter this matchup with a record of 4-3. The offense has really struggled to generate points, but the defense once again is the backbone of the Steelers. Pittsburgh is great at getting to the quarterback, and it will be on a mission to disrupt Levis and make him uncomfortable. The Steelers have been fantastic in primetime under Mike Tomlin, and after last week’s loss, they will be hungry to get back into the win column in front of their home fans.
Offensively, Pittsburgh has a bit of a question mark at QB this week. Kenny Pickett was injured in last week’s game against the Jaguars, and as of this writing he is listed as a game-time decision for Thursday night. If Pickett is unable to go, Mitch Trubisky figures to get the start. Trubisky threw two interceptions last week in relief of Pickett, as the Steelers lost 20-10. Pittsburgh has struggled to score points all season long, as its 16.1 points per game ranks 28th out of 32 NFL teams. RB Najee Harris has shown signs of life in recent weeks, but his inconsistent play is still troublesome. The Tennessee defense is far from elite, but it could be in a decent spot against a banged up Steeler offense.
Titans vs Steelers Prediction and Picks
The Tennessee offense looked borderline unstoppable last week, hitting big play after big play. Levis looked calm, cool, and collected, but this matchup could present some challenges. Not only is Levis making his first road start, but he is doing it on a short week against a strong defense. The young rookie has three days to prepare for a Pittsburgh defense that has generated 22 sacks in seven games. The Steelers are also holding opposing QBs to a 60.1 completion percentage, which is fifth-best in the NFL. It would be pretty surprising if Levis can replicate his performance from last weekend in this one. On the other side, the Pittsburgh offense is scoring 16.1 points per game, good for 28th in the league. Pickett’s status is in serious doubt, and Trubisky did not look great last week. Even with Pickett healthy, the Pittsburgh offense has really struggled to put up points this season. Consider the Under 36.5 points at -110 odds on DraftKings.
RB Jaylen Warren has been a strong component of the Pittsburgh offense. Warren is not as physical of a runner as Harris, but the Steelers like to use him in the passing game. On the year, Warren has 26 catches on 32 targets for 184 yards. He has seen his usage in the passing game increase from last season, as he had 28 catches all of last year. Warren is Pittsburgh’s primary pass-catcher out of the backfield, as Harris has just 13 catches for 94 yards so far this season. Pickett’s status is in question, and if he does play, he most likely won’t be 100%. That could result in some conservative play-calling and short passes to Warren out of the backfield. The same holds true if Trubisky plays, as he has limited experience with the Pittsburgh offense. No matter who is in at QB, look for Warren to be involved in the passing game in this one.
