Tim Tebow and Eric Berry have a storied rivalry.
The Florida Gators quarterback and the Tennessee Volunteers safety squared off three times from 2007 to 2009 with Florida finding a win in each game. Despite the losses, though, Berry continued to make a name for himself against the best quarterback in the nation.
It’s hard for Tennessee fans – or Florida fans, for that matter – to forget about the big moments that Berry had against the Florida quarterback, memories that Tebow has not forgotten.
Tebow and Berry shared the stage on Saturday morning during ESPN’s SEC Nation broadcast from Ayers Hall.
“Well I remember about half of them,” Tebow said about the big hits Berry put on him in college. “I can’t remember the rest of them. Eric, I have to say, is one of my favorite players I ever played against and he’s also one of my favorite people.”
As the two shared the SEC Nation stage, video highlights of Eric Berry tackling and intercepting Tebow played behind the set.
“One of the best competitors that I ever had the honor of playing against,” Tebow said with a hand on Berry’s shoulder. “And, yes, this was a pick-six in 2007! Not only did [Berry] picked me and took it to the house, but then you made me miss when I was trying to tackle you, and you juked me so I sort of rolled my ankle… But, truly, one of the best – in my opinion- one of the best players to ever play in the SEC. More than that, he’s also an amazing young man. And he represents y’alls team and y’alls state so well.”
“I appreciate that, Timothy,” Berry said in return.
A great moment on the SEC Nation stage, to say the least.
"In my opinion, [Eric Berry is] one of the best players to ever play in the SEC."
