Tennessee rose in the Week 8 edition of the AP Top 25 poll on Sunday afternoon after defeating Texas A&M by a score of 20-13 in Knoxville on Saturday evening.
Tennessee is up two spots to No. 17 in the country after previously ranking at No. 19 in the AP Poll. This is the 22nd straight week Tennessee has been ranked dating back to Week 2 of the 2022 season.
The Vols are the fourth-highest team of the six teams representing the Southeastern Conference. Georgia still stands at No. 1 followed by Alabama at No. 11. Ole Miss lands at No. 13 in the rankings, followed by Tennessee at No. 17 and LSU at No. 19 after a 30-point win over Auburn.
Missouri rounds out the SEC’s selections at No. 20.

Tennessee defeated Texas A&M in a back-and-forth nailbiter contest on Saturday afternoon in Knoxville. While the Vols’ passing game continued to struggle moving the ball downfield, Tennessee’s running game – primarily led by Jaylen Wright – was critical in finding a win over the Aggies. Tennessee also boasted solid defense and game-changing special teams en route to the 20-13 victory.
The road ahead only gets more challenging for Josh Heupel’s team, though. Tennessee is now looking at three road games in their next four contests including back-to-back away trips at Alabama and at Kentucky in the next two weeks.
Tennessee’s ranked streak continues to impress, too. The Vols haven’t had this long of a ranked streak since the mid-2000s under former head coach Phillip Fulmer.
