Louisville vs. Pittsburgh Betting Preview
It’s a lopsided ACC matchup this week between Louisville, which is 6-0 and 3-0 in the ACC, and Pittsburgh, 1-4 overall and 0-2 in the ACC.
The Cardinals probably aren’t slowing down their win streak
The Cardinals have launched themselves up the Top 25 AP Poll to No. 14 after jumping 11 spots thanks to a 33-20 win over Notre Dame. They’re the only team in the ACC to have already played and won six games this season. And they’re well on their way to claiming their first 7-0 start since 2012.
On the offensive side, they’re currently ranking 20th for total offense, 10th in yards per play at 7.1, and sixth in 4th down conversions at 83.3%.
They’ll be looking for a big game from running back Jawhar Jordan, who got two touchdowns and 143 yards against Notre Dame last week. Louisville QB Jack Plummer passed for 145 yards and a touchdown and was 17-for-24 against the Fighting Irish.
On defense, they’re 26th overall and particularly good in the Red Zone and at getting interceptions. Just last week, they intercepted three of Notre Dame QB Sam Hartman’s throws. Even more impressive: those were his first picks all season.
A bye week for the Panthers may not be enough
The Panthers had a much-needed rest last week after sliding into a four-game losing streak that started in Week 2. They haven’t won a game since beating Wofford 45-7 in their season opener.
It looks like the Panthers used their week off to potentially switch things up. After passing for just 235 yards and two passing TDs this season, starting QB Phil Jurkovec was reportedly doing practice reps at tight end. Backup QB Christian Veilleux would be the next one in line to try to create some offensive magic for Pittsburgh.
On defense, usually a strength for this team, the Panthers have given up 79 points in their last two games. Linebackers Solomon DeShields and Shane Simon are both solid tacklers, with DeShields leading the team in tackles for loss. But the question is whether they can keep up with Louisville’s Jawhar Jordan. Our answer is: probably not.
Louisville Cardinals vs. Pittsburgh Panthers Prediction
Louisville is a 7.5-point favorite on DraftKings, with the over/under set at 44.5 points. Considering everything above with a surging Louisville, we’re picking the Cardinals to cover the spread.
