The injury bug can be cruel. Former Tennessee cornerback Emmanuel Moseley is learning that more than anyone else currently.

Moseley made his return to the field Sunday after a torn ACL cost him almost the entirety of the 2022-23 season. Playing his first game of the season and his first game with the Lions, Moseley tore his ACL again, ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported.

Both injuries came in week five of the NFL season and sideline Moseley for the rest of the season. The former Tennessee cornerback played for San Fransisco last season before signing a two-year, $9.4 million contact with Detroit this offseason.

In Detroit, Moseley is teammates with a pair of defenders he played with at Tennessee: cornerback Cam Sutton and linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin.

Now Moseley will rehab his second straight torn ACL and hope to return to the field for the 2024-25 football season.

Moseley is in his sixth-year of his NFL career after spending the first five years of his professional career with San Fransisco. The former Tennessee corner started as a backup and special teams player for the 49ers before becoming a starter by the end of his San Fransisco tenure.

In five years with San Fransisco, Moseley totaled 162 tackles, four interceptions and 33 pass breakups.
