The Steelers’ defense allowed more than 300 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, and one rushing touchdown to rookie QB C.J. Stroud last Sunday. The least number of attempts they have seen in a game this year is 29. Each time Jackson has thrown the ball 29 times or more this year, he has surpassed the 201-yard mark. The Steelers haven’t shown anything to trust that this trend won’t continue.

The Steelers’ rush defense has given up fewer touchdowns than it has through the air, but it is currently a bottom five team in rushing yards allowed. In four games, they’ve surrendered 594 rushing yards for an average of 4.7 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Jackson has rushed the ball 41 times this season for 220 yards and four touchdowns.
His lowest number of attempts in the last three weeks was nine, and that was in a blowout against the Browns last week without Deshaun Watson. Had it been a closer game, his touches could have easily increased. However, nine may be all it takes to cover this line given how poorly the Steelers have performed this year. That’s especially so when you factor in his uncanny ability to create big chunk, off schedule rushing plays against pressure.

Jackson has punched the ball into the endzone four times, each of which came during the last two weeks. In the red zone this year, he has 12 pass attempts and seven run attempts. The volume of his attempts he gets in the area makes him a threat week in and week out. The Browns are a top five defense.
They have allowed 287 rushing yards and two touchdowns so far, both of which were to Jackson. If the Ravens can get what they want against a defense of that caliber, Jackson should be able to find the end zone at least once against a Steelers defense that looks nothing like what it has become known to be.
