If you tell a Tennessee fan about Josh Dobbs, they might quickly bring up the name Jauan Jennings right after.
And if you bring up the name Jauan Jennings first, there’s a good chance they’ll respond with something about Josh Dobbs.
Both Dobbs and Jennings combined to be one of the most well-liked duos that Tennessee athletics has seen in the modern era. From 2015 to 2016, Dobbs’ final two seasons and Jennings’ first two seasons, the two combined for 729 yards and seven touchdowns through the air. Dobbs and Jennings both gave Tennessee fans several memorable moments on the football field.
It also looks like the friendship has carried over to the NFL, too. Seven years after their last season together in Knoxville, Dobbs and Jennings met up for a jersey swap after Sunday’s game between the Arizona Cardinals and the San Francisco 49ers.

Jennings’ 49ers defeated Dobbs’ Cardinals by a score of 35-16 on Sunday afternoon in San Fran. Dobbs once again had another solid day going 28-of-41 for 265 yards, two passing touchdowns, and 48 rushing yards.
As Mark Dalton points out with the picture, the most well-known moment between the two former Vols is Dobbs’ hail mary pass to Jennings to defeat Georgia in Athens in 2016 – Dobbs’ final season with the Volunteers. It is a moment that Tennessee fans still call back to this day and will for quite some time.

Through four games this season, Dobbs has a 70.7 completion percentage with 814 yards, four passing touchdowns, and no interceptions. Dobbs has also added 141 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown to his production this year, which is combined considerably more than he has had in the rest of his career combined.
Despite the Cardinals being just 1-3 on the year, Dobbs has shown that he has the confidence of his teammates and enough talent to lead Arizona this season with headache quarterback Kyler Murray still out of action with an injury.
Jennings, meanwhile, has collected 82 yards on four receptions this season as he still awaits his first receiving touchdown of the year from quarterback Brock Purdy.
