McCarty is one of Tennessee basketball’s highest ranked targets in its 2024 recruiting class and a priority for Rick Barnes and his staff.
McCarty ranks as a four-star recruit and the No. 73 player in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. The 6-foot-5, 200-pound wing also ranks as the 20th best small forward in the 2024 recruiting cycle.

The four-star recruit plays his prep basketball at IMG Academy in Florida but is originally a Huntsville, Alabama native. McCarty has taken three visits to Tennessee during his recruitment which includes two in 2023 and his only official visit to Knoxville late last month.
McCarty has taken an official visit to all of his finalists except for Texas Tech. However, McCarty has an official visit scheduled to Lubbock for November.
Tennessee is the only school in McCarty’s top six that he has taken multiple visits to. The Vols are still looking for their first commitment in the 2024 recruiting class after missing out on a few top targets. Barnes and his staff hopes to land their first commitment next week when combo guard Bishop Boswell announces his college commitment.
The Vols definitively lose seniors Josiah-Jordan James, Santiago Vescovi and Dalton Knecht off their roster next offseason while Freddie Dilione has NBA Draft potential and other players could transfer.
Of course, Tennessee could add to their roster via the transfer portal next offseason as they have the past few cycles.
