Every once in a while you may flip on an NFL game, an NBA game, maybe even a NASCAR event, and, sure enough, there’s a Tennessee fan in the crowd.
Just a few months back a man in a Tennessee hat was spotted on camera at some WWE show that was in the northwestern part of the United States.
All that to say, we’ve all seen it at some point before. A Tennessee fan at a random game on TV.
Well… it happened again last weekend in hilarious fashion.
In a video that Barstool Rocky Top posted to Instagram, one lone Tennessee fan could be spotted in what looked to potentially be the student section of the Alabama at South Florida football game in Tampa. Yes, the Alabama-South Florida game, you read that correctly.
The fan was dressed up in an orange shirt with the Tennessee staple of orange-and-white checkerboard overalls.

So what was going on here? Let’s do some investigating… or, in this case, speculating…
Option 1: Wrong Florida Game
- The first option is simply that the young man dressed head to toe in Tennessee gear might just have attended the wrong game. The Florida-Tennessee matchup was just about 130 miles north of Tampa in Gainesville, Florida.
Option 2: Alex Golesh Fan Club
- The second option could be that the Tennessee fan is really just a big fan of former offensive coordinator Alex Golesh, who left Tennessee’s record-setting 2022 offense this past offseason to become the head coach of the South Florida Bulls. Maybe the fan felt like bringing some orange into Golesh’s South Florida game would subsequently help Tennessee up the road through the power of weird college football sorcery.
Option 3: A Bull-Vol Supporter
- Some people like more than one team. Or, at the very least, do not have the option of always seeing their favorite team. This could be a student from USF who just loves the Vols and wanted to show off his Tennessee gear with Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide rolling into town.
At the end of the day, we’re just having some fun but don’t actually know the story of how this all came to be. Regardless, though, it is pretty funny. The young man was probably there having a good time with his family, or with friends, or maybe it was just one of the other countless reasons to be in Raymond-James Stadium that Saturday afternoon. Maybe he just likes the overalls.
One way or another, it’s a video that is sure to give a quick chuckle while Tennessee fans wait for a bounce-back game against UTSA in Knoxville this Saturday evening.
As Barstool Rocky Top put in their Instagram caption, this young man sure does give his all for Tennessee.
