Former Tennessee quarterback Josh Dobbs started behind center for the Arizona Cardinals for a second straight week while Kyler Murray rehabs from injury.

Dobbs started for the Cardinals in week two and played well but for the second straight week Arizona suffered a come from behind loss, this time 31-28 at the hands of the New York Giants.

The former Tennessee quarterback improved up his week one performance and turned in his best game in four career starts. Dobbs completed 21-of-31 passes for 228 yards and a passing touchdown in the win.

After being a non factor running the football in week one, Dobbs totaled 41 rushes on three carries against the Giants including a 23-yard touchdown run.

The Georgia native looked like his college self on the play, escaping the pocket and lowering his shoulder short of the goal line before falling in for a touchdown.

While Dobbs performed well in week two, his team suffered a frustrating loss for the second straight week. Arizona led New York 20-0 at halftime and 28-14 entering the fourth quarter before the Giants scored 17 unanswered in the game’s final quarter to earn the victory.

Arizona also blew a second half lead a week before in its season opening loss at Washington.

Murray is expected to miss an extended amount of time this season and while Dobbs has started the first two games the Cardinals haven’t named him the official starter in Murray’s absence as they also have rookie Clayton Tune on the roster.

However, Dobbs has performed solid in each of the first two weeks of the NFL season despite Arizona losing both games.
