More From RTI: Losses Piling Up For SEC Teams Two Weeks Into The Season
Tennessee is off to a 2-0 start to the season after defeating non conference foes Virginia and Austin Peay to open the season. After a solid debut against Virginia, the Vols struggled against Austin Peay in Saturday’s home opener.
Florida is off to a disappointing 1-1 start in Billy Napier’s second season as the Gators’ head coach. Florida looked unimpressive while losing at Utah— whose starting quarterback Cam Rising was injured— before getting in the win column with a victory over McNeese.
The Vols ended a five-game losing streak against Florida last season when Tennessee defeated Napier’s first Gators team 38-33 inside Neyland Stadium. Tennessee is looking for its first win in Gainesville since 2003 and its first consecutive wins over Florida since ’03-’04.
Kickoff at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium is at 7 p.m. ET Saturday night. ESPN is broadcasting the game.

Going into the Swamp against a some would say weak Florida team spells loss for a Tennessee team that couldn’t handle the Governor’s from Clarksville on Saturday. I’m a diehard Vol fan, but if the head coach can’t pull a QB who isn’t getting it done, then take Florida, and have 4-points added on. This one’s going to be a good game for the Lizards, Napier’s breakout game, and Huepel’s Waterloo. Sad how UT has hit the skids. Not only did they look terrible against Austin Peay, go back and look at the Virginia game, and you’ll see that they weren’t really that much better against the Cavaliers.
I believe Tennessee has been running the ball and purposely being Vanilla in order to throw off the bigger opponents. Milton made some poor throws but we had at least 3 dropped passes that would have moved the chains in the 1st half. Look for Tennessee to stack the line and force Florida to throw the ball.
