Four-Star Tennessee Defensive Line Target Announces August Commitment Date

Four-star defensive lineman Kamarion Franklin is announcing his college commitment on Aug. 19, On3’s Hayes Fawcett first reported Friday afternoon.

Franklin is deciding between a top group which includes Auburn, Florida State, Miami, Ole Miss and Tennessee.

The 6-foot-5, 265-pound defensive tackle is one of the highest ranked four-stars in the 2024 recruiting cycle coming in as the No. 45 player in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. Franklin also ranks as the eighth best defensive lineman in the 2024 cycle and the No. 1 player in the state of Mississippi.

Tennessee has long been one of the top contenders to land the Lake Cormorant, Mississippi native with Franklin visiting Knoxville six times during his recruitment including a June official visit.

However, Hugh Freeze and Auburn have made a major play to land the blue-chip defensive lineman in recent weeks. Franklin took a late July unofficial visit to Auburn— his third since Freeze became head coach. According to On3, Franklin plans on officially visit Auburn in September.

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine lists Auburn as the favorite to land Franklin with Tennessee second behind him. Franklin has also four unofficial visits and one official visit to Miami.

Tennessee’s 2024 recruiting class currently contains 19 commits but just three from defensive linemen. Missouri native Kellen Lindstrom is the lone four-star defensive line commit in the Vols’ 2024 recruiting class.

The Vols’ 19-commit recruiting class ranks 10th nationally according to the 247sports team rankings.
