Entering his final college season, Tennessee quarterback Joe Milton has as much pressure on him as any player in college football entering this season.
But after losing his starting job early in 2021 and sitting behind Hendon Hooker for the better part of two years, Milton is calm and cool entering his super senior season.
“He’s a completely different guy, not just player. His attention to detail is elite,” Tennessee offensive coordinator Joey Halzle said. “Now his mentality is matching that on how much he wants to learn and how he’s consuming the game at all times. It’s fun to be a part of right now, and it’s a special mindset that this kid has.”

Milton’s cool demeanor and confidence was on display Wednesday when Tennessee mic’d up Milton for the Vols’ first fall practice.
Whether it was messing with Halzle, talking to the younger quarterbacks about their responsibility to know everyone’s role on every play or doing a cornerback drill himself— Milton appeared in control and confident at Tennessee’s first August practice.
