Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes met with the media in Knoxville on Tuesday afternoon with a big trip right around the corner.
The Vols’ men’s basketball team will travel to Italy on July 31 for a 10-day trip overseas. Tennessee will play in three exhibition games during that time while also taking in the sights of Lake Como, Florence, and Rome.
The Vols will take on the Lithuanian U21 National Team in Florence on back-to-back days (Aug. 4-5) with a final game against Italian club A.S. Stella Azzura on August 7.
Barnes spoke about his anticipation for the trip at the end of the month and how he feels as though it’ll benefit the team both on and off the court. The Vols have welcomed in several new players this year as they bond on the 10-day trip.
Barnes also spoke about several individual players and their development such as redshirt freshman Freddie Dilione, rising sophomore Tobe Awaka, and true freshman JP Estrella.
