Tennessee quarterback Joe Milton III drew quite a bit of conversation during SEC Media Days in Nashville last week.
Milton and the Volunteers closed out the event on Thursday as the final of the 14 teams to be represented on the main stage at the Grand Hyatt Hotel.
Milton’s hype train heading into the 2023 season has been gaining steam since a solid performance in leading Tennessee to an Orange Bowl victory over Clemson to end the 2022 season. Some believe the hype to be too much, while others are buying into it and continuing to pump in fuel such as SEC Nation host and SEC broadcaster Jordan Rodgers.
“Joe Milton is hands down the most talented quarterback in the entire country, and it’s not even close,” Rodgers recently said via SEC Network on Twitter.

Among the other chatter that came out of Milton’s SEC Media Days appearance was a fascinating revelation with SEC Network’s Cole Cubelic.
While he wouldn’t specify an exact number, Milton did say that his farthest throw was somewhere between 90-99 yards.

In two games as Tennessee’s starter last season (at Vanderbilt, vs Clemson), Milton averaged 199 yards passing per game with a total of four touchdowns and zero interceptions. Milton also averaged a 60.15 completion percentage between both of those games to close out the season.
Milton will now lead Tennessee in his final collegiate season beginning on Sept. 2 against Virginia in Nashville’s Nissan Stadium.
