Former Tennessee football linebacker Jeremy Banks was cut by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday, according to a report from NBC’s Charean Williams.
Rookie report day in Tampa was Monday, where the Buccaneers cut Banks to create an open roster spot before the veterans arrive on Tuesday.
Banks was signed by Tampa as an undrafted free agent just days after the conclusion of the 2023 NFL Draft, becoming one of 20 UDFAs to get picked up by the Bucs.

Jeremy Banks joined the Tennessee program prior to the 2018 season from Cordova High School in Cordova, Tennessee. After starting his Volunteer career at running back, Banks began to practice at linebacker in the next offseason where he officially made the transition.
In the 2019 season, Banks played in four games. In 2020, he remained a reserve linebacker but burst onto the scene in 2021, the first year defensive coordinator Tim Banks.
Banks played in all 13 games for Tennessee in 2021 and recorded a total of 128 tackles, leading the team and ranking second in the conference. The then-redshirt-junior also added in 11.5 tackles for loss, one interception, and four passes deflected.
During his final season on Rocky Top, Banks ended the season with 53 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble and recovery, and four passes deflected.
In his Tennessee career, Banks played in 48 games with 19 starts and recorded 219 career total tackles, 18 TFLs, 5.5 sacks and three interceptions.
Banks was selected as a 2023 East-West Shrine Bowl participant after his final season at Tennessee and was invited to the NFL Combine this past March leading up to the draft.
