Four-star cornerback Cai Bates will announce his college commitment on July 26, On3’s Hayes Fawcett first reported Tuesday.
Bates hasn’t released a top school list that he’s choosing between but Alabama, Florida State, LSU and Tennessee, among others, are all players in his recruitment.

Bates ranks as a four-star recruit and the No. 107 player in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. The Orlando native ranks as the 11th best cornerback in the country and the 14th best prep player in the state of Florida.

While Bates hasn’t released a list of his top contenders, his visits tell the story. Bates took official visits to Alabama, Florida State, LSU and Tennessee in June and hasn’t visited anywhere sense due to the NCAA dead period. The blue-chip recruit has also taken visits to Kentucky, Florida and Miami.
The 6-foot-1, 180 pound corner’s official visit to Tennessee in June was his first trip to Knoxville. LSU is the only school that Bates has officially visited and unofficially visited.
Tennessee football’s 2023 recruiting class currently contains 16 commitments but only one commitβ four-star Kaleb Beasleyβ is a cornerback.
The Vols’ 16 commit recruiting class ranks 15th nationally according to the 247sports composite rankings.
