After a few months of announcing individual games, Tennessee has officially released the full non-conference basketball schedule for the upcoming 2023-2024 season.

Tennessee’s non-conference schedule primarily lies between the months of November and December with an exhibition game in October and the final non-conference game on the other side of New Year’s Day.

The Vols will host Lenoir-Rhyne on Halloween (Oct. 31) as the one public exhibition game on the schedule this year.

Tennessee’s season will officially begin on Monday, Nov. 6 with a contest in Thompson-Boling Arena against Tennessee Tech. The Vols hosted the Golden Eagles in what would turn out to be a 75-43 win for the Big Orange during the second game of the previous year’s season.

Wisconsin will provide Tennessee with an immediate challenge in the second game of the Vols’ season on Nov. 10. The road game in Madison, WI will see Tennessee take on a Wisconsin team that went 20-15 on the year last season with a two-point loss to North Texas in the NIT semi-finals. North Texas defeated Wisconsin by a score of 56-54 in Las Vegas.

After a home contest against Wofford on Nov. 14, Tennessee will head west for Hawaii to take part in the stacked Maui Jim Maui Invitational on Nov. 20-22. The tournament field includes Gonzaga, Kansas, Marquette, Purdue, Syracuse, UCLA, Tennessee, and Chaminade.

The challenges will continue once Tennessee wraps up that tournament, though. The Vols will have about a week-long break before taking on North Carolina in Chapel Hill for the SEC/ACC showdown on Nov. 29.

Tennessee will then start December with three straight home games against George Mason (Dec. 5), Illinois (Dec. 9), and Georgia Southern (Dec. 12). The Fighting Illini finished the 2022-2023 season with an overall record of 20-13 and a first-round NCAA Tournament loss to Arkansas in Des Moines.

Tennessee will then head back west, though not quite as far, for the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame Series in San Antonio, TX on Dec. 16. The Vols will take on North Carolina State in a one-game matchup before returning home to Knoxville.

The Vols will close out the non-conference slate with two home games around Christmas and New Year’s Day. Tennessee will host Tarleton State on Dec. 21 before hosting Norfolk State on Jan. 2.
