Former Tennessee turned Detroit Lions quarterback Hendon Hooker returned to SEC Media Days in Nashville on Monday morning as the reigning SEC Player of the Year.
Hooker led Tennessee to nine wins in the regular season before his season was cut short due to an ACL injury in the penultimate game against South Carolina. While the Vols continued to work towards their goal of the postseason without their starting quarterback, Hooker continued to work towards his goal of becoming an NFL quarterback despite the injury setback.
Hooker was selected by the Detroit Lions in the 3rd round with the No. 68 overall pick this past spring. Hooker’s rookie season in Detroit will likely be essentially used as a redshirt season, but the Lions have made it clear that they are extremely excited about Hooker’s potential within the organization.
During SEC Media Days on Monday in Nashville, the former Tennessee quarterback spoke with Rocky Top Insider’s Jack Foster about several topics. Hooker spoke about his family’s secret recipe using Bush’s Baked Beans, Lions head coach Dan Campbell, his predictions for Tennessee and quarterback Joe Milton III in 2023, and much more.
