Five-star receiver Mike Matthews is one of the top players on Tennessee football’s recruiting board in the 2024 cycle and one of the most sought after receivers in the entire class.
The Vols appear to be trending for the blue-chip receiver after a June full of official visits. 247sports Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong put in a crystal ball prediction for Matthews to land at Tennessee Friday afternoon.
Matthews ranks as the No. 13 player in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. The Lilburn native also ranks as he fourth best receiver in the country and the No. 3 player in the state of Georgia in the 2024 recruiting cycle.

While Matthews hasn’t announced a commitment date, he took official visits to Clemson, Georgia, Southern Cal and Tennessee in June.
The 6-foot-1, 180 pound receiver has taken six total visits to Clemson, five visits to Georgia, four visits to Tennessee and two visits to USC during his recruiting process. Matthews has also taken three visits to Alabama though none were official visits.
Tennessee’s 2024 recruiting class currently contains 16 commits including from one receiver— four-star Braylon Staley. The Vols are also heavy contenders for five-star Ryan Wingo and four-star Amari Jefferson.
The Vols’ 2024 recruiting class currently ranks No. 15 nationally according to the 247sports team rankings.
