Wimbledon Semifinals Betting Odds and Preview

Wimbledon has been full of surprises this year, but Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz are still alive and well in the tournament. They entered as the top two players in the world and as the favorites to win it all. Both are favored in their semifinal matchups today, but they’ll have to avoid a letdown for their matchup to come to fruition. Djokovic is searching for Grand Slam title No. 24, and Alcaraz is searching for title No. 2.

Carlos Alcaraz (-275) vs. Daniil Medvedev (+220)

Daniil Medvedev is making his first appearance in the semifinals at Wimbledon after a thrilling five-set victory over Christopher Eubanks, who stole the show at the tournament this year with his desk-to-court story of triumph. However, at one point, Medvedev dropped seven games in a row to Eubanks. He eventually prevailed, but that was in large part due to Eubanks running out of gas and serving up endless errors down the stretch.

Although Alcaraz is still proving he can be dominant on grass, Medvedev won’t last long against the Spaniard with that level of play. The two faced off before, splitting the contests. The first time Alcaraz was 17 years old. The last time was earlier this year when Alcaraz was 19 years old, but on his way to his first Grand Slam title. In that contest, he dropped five games to Medvedev en route to a dominating victory.

Jannik Sinner (+460) vs. Novak Djokovic (-650)

This will be the third matchup between the two. The last time the two faced off was in 2022 in the Wimbledon quarterfinals. Djokovic dropped the first two sets before running off three consecutive dominating sets to complete the comeback victory. Both are at the top of their games, which should lead to another great matchup for fans and spectators.

Djokovic is the favorite, but Sinner knows him well and has surely studied since they last met. Both are as aggressive as any in the sport, but Djokovic is by far the most disciplined out of the two. In a tight game, his discipline and experience will serve him well down the stretch. At this point in their careers, it’s the biggest advantage of the contest.

Best Bets for Wimbledon Semifinals

If you’re looking for wagers, here are two to consider.

Jannik Sinner to Win the First Set (+215)

Sinner’s first serve has been more impactful as of late. In his last match, he served 14 aces and won 43 out of 48 points. Djokovic wasn’t as dominant in the category in his last match, which led to him dropping the first set. Additionally, Sinner is more likely to expend energy early looking to take a set because he knows Djokovic only gets better as the match progresses. Look for him to put Djokovic on notice early once again in what’s expected to be a tightly contested matchup.

Carlos Alcaraz vs. Daniil Medvedev Set 1 Under 9.5 Games (+135)

Medvedev showed a lot of vulnerability in his last matchup, and he hasn’t faced any ranked opponents to this point of the tournament. He has also yet to appear as the player he is on hard surfaces. There is an argument to be made that he has gotten this far due to his level of competition.

Meanwhile, Alcaraz is figuring out the grass surface, coming off of a dominating victory against Holger Rune, who is the sixth-ranked player in the sport. Given the difference in opponents so far, the first set between Alcaraz and Medvedev may be an adjustment period for Medvedev, who is preparing to take on by far the most challenging competition he has faced at Wimbledon this year. Don’t be surprised if the Spaniard makes quick work of Medvedev in the first set.
