The Los Angeles Angels selected Tennessee pitcher Zach Joyce with the 414th picks (14th round) of the 2023 MLB Draft Tuesday afternoon.
In Los Angeles, Zach joins his twin brother Ben who the Angels drafted in the third round of the 2022 MLB Draft. Ben Joyce made his MLB debut earlier this season before suffering an injury that’s sidelined him.
Zach Joyce spent just one season with the Tennessee baseball team, posting a 1-0 record and 4.35 ERA in 10.1 innings pitched. Joyce suffered an arm injury that sidelined him for a month during the season. While his fastball isn’t as lethal as his brother, Zach’s heater sits in the upper-90s and boasts the stuff that made him a draft candidate.

Joyce is playing in the Cape Cod League this summer where he’s been able to show off his high velocity fastball, earning himself a day three selection in the draft.
The Knoxville native has a year of collegiate eligibility remaining but is expected to sign professionally and forego his final season.
Joyce was the sixth Tennessee player selected in the 2023 draft, joining Chase Dollander, Maui Ahuna, Andrew Lindsey, Seth Halvorsen and Jared Dickey.
