Tennessee Baseball and head coach Tony Vitello pulled a massive acquisition out of the transfer portal on Thursday morning with Clemson transfer Billy Amick.

Amick was a top player in college baseball last season and has been highly sought after since entering the portal. Ultimately, though, Amick chose Tennessee over Florida, Texas A&M, South Carolina, and North Carolina.

While playing first base and designated hitter for the Tigers in 2023, Amick also proved to have a strong bat at the plate. The Batesburg, South Carolina native hit .413 with 13 home runs, 32 extra-base hits, and 63 RBIs en route to an All-ACC honor last season.

The 6-foot-1, right handed player will give Tennessee an experienced, quality player both to use in the infield and provide a spark at the plate. Tennessee’s transfer players such as Zane Denton and Griffin Merritt helped fuel the Vols’ postseason run last year and Amick will look to help the Vols’ with the same.
