Clemson transfer Billy Amick committed to Tennessee baseball on Thursday morning.
The rising junior was one of the top players in the transfer portal and chose Tennessee over a top group which included Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas A&M.
The Batesburg, South Carolina native visited Tennessee last week while also visiting Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina during the process.
Amick was one of the best hitters in the ACC last season boasting a .413 batting average with 13 home runs, 32 extra-base hits and 63 RBIs. The sophomore also boasted an elite 16.7% strikeout percentage last season.
The 6-foot-1 right-hander played first base and designated hitter for Clemson last season. Amick is also capable of playing third base and was an emergency catcher for the Tigers in his freshman season.
More From RTI: Where Tennessee Baseball Players Are Playing This Summer
The highly sought after infielder has two years of eligibility remaining but will be MLB Draft eligible after the 2024 season. If Amick replicates his 2023 production next season at Tennessee he’ll only spend one season in Knoxville.
Amick is the fifth transfer to commit to Tennessee baseball this offseason joining North Carolina State catcher Cannon Peebles, Wofford infielder Ryan Galanie and Wichita State pitcher Nate Snead and Jacksonville State pitcher AJ Causey.
With Blake Burke and Christian Moore returning for their junior seasons and Zane Denton potentially returning for his super senior season, Tennessee is loaded with talent in the infield. How Tony Vitello and his staff manages the infield and moves players around will be fascinating.
Christian Moore worked in the corner outfield spots in his freshman season and Galanie also has the potential to play in left or right field.
