Philadelphia Phillies star Bryce Harper is moving to Knoxville following the 2023 MLB season, according to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale.

Harper, the seven-time All-Star and two-time NL MVP, is originally from Las Vegas and has spent every offseason there, but his offseason home will now reside in the 865.

Harper’s decision to move to Tennessee continues a trend of MLB stars taking their families to the Volunteer State.

Multiple MLB players have relocated to the Nashville area, including LA Dodgers Mookie Betts.

There is no clear explanation as to why MLB stars are moving to Tennessee, but as Nightengale noted in his article, Nashville is becoming a ‘hotbed’ for MLB players. The most logical thought as to why Nashville is becoming a hotbed is due to Music City being one of the favorites to land one of the MLB’s next expansion teams.

Nashville was voted the best city for a new MLB team on The Athletic’s MLB Player Poll, receiving a majority of the vote with 69 percent.

So, maybe all the relocations is a sign the Tennessee capital could get a professional baseball team.

  1. Also we don’t have a state income tax! Makes a big difference to those in that income bracket.
