Hendon Hooker was the quarterback of Josh Heupel’s Tennessee offense for the past two seasons. Over the course of those two years, Hooker revitalized the Tennessee football program and its fanbase with electric play on the field.
Electric play on the field is one thing, though, and winning is another. Hooker brought several wins to the Tennessee program that had not been seen in some time including Alabama, Florida, LSU, and Pittsburgh. Hooker was also undefeated against Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and Missouri over the span of his two years.
Near the end of his Heisman-worthy 2022 football season, Hooker suffered an ACL tear against South Carolina in the penultimate game of the regular season, effectively ending his playing career at Tennessee. Hooker still stuck with the team throughout the postseason and was consistently an encouraging voice for now-Tennessee quarterback and Hooker’s former roommate, Joe Milton III.

Hooker worked hard to prepare himself with the NFL Draft set for the spring of 2023. Despite the injury, the former Tennessee quarterback was still invited to the Reese’s Senior Bowl and the NFL Combine en route to the NFL Draft in April.
Hendon Hooker was selected by the Detroit Lions with the No. 68 overall pick in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
The Lions’ rookie quarterback is now set to return to Knoxville this July to share some wisdom with the youth football players of the Knoxville and greater East Tennessee area.
