Tennessee Football added a handful of impressive young talent to the class of 2024 commit list in the last week.
Leading things off on Saturday night was four-star in-state athlete Boo Carter. The Chattanooga native chose the Vols over Michigan in a tight race to remain in the Volunteer State under defensive coordinator Tim Banks. While Carter is listed as an all-around athlete in the class, many anticipate the 5-foot-10 prospect potentially winding up at defensive back for the Vols.
Carter is an impressive four-star talent who might even still be undervalued. 247 Sports Composite has Carter ranked No. 208 overall, No. 17 among athletes, and the No. 2 player from the state of Tennessee in the class of 2024. Carter chose Tennessee over more than 40 other scholarship offers over the course of his recruitment.
Carter ranks as the sixth-highest recruit in Tennessee’s class out of the 14 prospects at this time.
Boo Carter Highlights:
Following Carter was fringe four-star linebacker Jordan Burns. The Atlanta native committed to Tennessee on Tuesday to become the Vols’ first true linebacker commit and the third commit in the class from the Peach State. Carter and Burns’ commitments give the Vols five players from the state of Tennessee and three players from the state of Georgia so far.
The 6-foot-1, 220-pound linebacker chose Tennessee over Vanderbilt and Arkansas. Burns ranks as a Top 400 player, the No. 34 linebacker in the class, and the No. 47 player from the state of Georgia according to 247 Sports Composite rankings. Burns has the talent to play both in the middle of the field and attack the quarterback from the EDGE position. Carter has a high ceiling and a motor to match.
Burns played on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball during his junior year of high school.
Jordan Burns Highlights:
Rounding out Tennessee’s trio of commits in the last week from four-star offensive lineman Max Anderson from Frisco, Texas. Anderson, a 6-foot-5, 306-pound interior offensive lineman, committed to Tennessee over Oklahoma on Wednesday afternoon. The Sooners currently have Anderson’s brother, redshirt junior OL Nate Anderson, on their roster.
Anderson is a dual-sport high school athlete that is also successful in both shot put and discus on the Reedy High School track and field team. Anderson is a high-level four-star recruit and the highest-ranked offensive lineman in Tennessee’s class of 2024.
247 Sports Composite has Anderson as the No. 201 overall player, the No. 18 offensive lineman in the class of 2024, and the No. 38 player from the state of Texas. Anderson is now the fifth-highest recruit in Tennessee’s class.
